So I hate "crying it out". I know it works for some people but I am just not on board with the idea. Our doctor told us to do it with Arden and I just decided I was the mom and it was not for me. It is still isn't for me!! We are trying it with Brock at his nap time. He doesn't like to be rocked like Arden did so you just have zero options. He will sometimes go all day without a nap. Not okay for a 5 month old. So, yesterday because it was a snow day I let him cry some and he went to sleep , took about 3 naps. I just can't stand it at work. It makes me want to cry by the end of the day. He is in the back office in his crib where no one can hear. But he will cry for like 30 min and then only sleep 15 and then back up crying. That does NOT seem right to me. It would be diff if he cried for 30 and slept an hour but this seems hardly worth it. I have promised Matt I would try it though. I know everyone says you just have to get through it. But it is going to break me---not the other way around. When my babies cry I want to fix it--not let them figure it out. Anyway, that is my rant so i can keep from going back there and picking him up.

ugh is all that there is to say. just ugh. maybe if you can keep it up he will start sleeping longer and longer and crying less. that is what they say "should" happen. i know it makes your stomach just churn to deal with it. what a bummer having to deal with that at the shop. also i know what you mean about "don't rock me" jenny went thru that phase and troy is like that sometimes. did arden always like a long nap?
All you can do is what your gut tells you. It is different for every child. I have had to let Gaby cry it out many times. Maggie I would try the cry it out process and it never worked..she would scream until she projectile vomited. It was horrible...I gave in and had a child in my bed until she was 6! How we conceived Kamryn and Gaby is beyond me. LOL! Kamryn on the other hand...never liked being rocked or even touched when she was tired. Has always slept. Gaby was a great sleeper until the change to a big girl bed.
UGH...what a rant. My point is...they all different. What works for one child and Mommy doesn't work for another....BUT....it all works out in the end! We sweat the small stuff because we are tired and going through the motions! Once it is resolved we usually realize all that worry wasn't worth it.
Do what works best for you and your sweet little man. I wish I had more solid advice...but I do know...it will work out and this too shall pass!!!
Much Love~
